About

What does "respaced" mean and what this is about:

Respaced means being a bit torn and a bit restless. Being respaced means that you feel the need to travel and leave your mark in the world. This brings adventure and lots of fun, but it also means that you can never be HOME. Your home is not a place, it’s the people. Connecting with people from all over the world and learn about them makes you feel alive. You learn things you never thought about and you expand your horizon. With the spread of globalization the number of respaced youth, particularly students, is increasing. I am one of them. I want to learn and make experiences. I want to share them here with you and hear what you think!!

So follow me, get a piece of the Respaced Girl's world and become a part of all this!

Nice. But who the heck is Respaced Girl?
Respaced Girl is the net identity of Franzi. Franzi was born on the 8th of December, in the German city Stuttgart. Being born in the zodiac of the Sagittarius, all the traits of her characters were determined from the beginning on. A Sagittarius is

“Optimistic and freedom-loving
Jovial and good-humored
Honest and straightforward
Intellectual and philosophical”

BUT…
Blindly optimistic and careless
Irresponsible and superficial
Tactless and restless”

In spite of this, Franzi chose to accept her destiny and learned that life is a lot of fun when you have a grandma who likes to spend hours at a drug store and who always has treats for you in the bottom drawer of her cabinet. Respaced Girl grew up in a safe and protected environment, as one of the 592.607 inhabitants in Stuttgart.

Unfortunately, Franzi was not eager to become an innovative scientist as Daimler, Porsche, Bosch or Zeiss. Instead, Franzi got in touch with media. As a thirteen year old, she became member of a young reporter group, ironically called “girls-in-space”. A year later, she got infected with travelling, spending a month abroad in Chicago, in order to attend the school there. This happened again a few years later, and again in Italy…

After her graduation, Franzi decided to attend for a Bachelor of Arts in German literature – against the will of her German teacher who urged her to choose a higher degree in order to become a German school teacher. If she knew one thing, she knew that she couldn’t stand to be in a room with more than three kids. In addition to that, she always felt a bit irritated by her teacher, wearing the same outfit every day. So she just went for the thing she wanted to.

Here we are now, Respaced Girl and Franzi. After four months of studying Media at Temple University in Philadelphia, including cultural studies off campus, Respaced Girl found her favourite place in the world,  in New York, precisly in Brooklyn, Sunset Park.

Respaced Girl found herself carrying a tripod in “The Tent” during New York Fashion Week and having breakfast with a photographer for German VOGUE, but also passing one of her co-workers the Wodka bottle. During the 6 weekends she had to explore the city, she fell in love. New York was a city of challenges and offered new things every day. Here she could find EVERYTHING, every culture, every event, everything was possible.

Back in Germany, Franzi applied for an international study program called Erasmus Mundus Master of Arts in Journalism, Media and Globalization. How respaced was that? The program let her move to Denmark's second biggest city Aarhus, where 306.650 people live. 5 months later in February 2011, her studies and her wanderlust brought her to Sydney.

why this blog is written in weird English:

I had studied English in a German High School from grade 5 untill 13 (so for 8 years). I studied a semester in Philadelphia. In 2010 I started my International MA Study program in Denmark.  Since February 2011 I'm in Sydney. I like writing, I like English.  English is respaced. That's why Respaced Girl writes in English.
